The Architecture of Strong Writing, Taught Step by Step
Rather than relying on vague prompts or random practice, students are taught how writing works — sentence by sentence, paragraph by paragraph, term by term.
Four core capabilities that transform primary writing.
Every term in our online writing coaching builds these four capabilities deliberately — so progress is taught, not left to chance.
Sentence Control
Students move beyond short, repetitive sentences to writing with deliberate variety — combining clauses, opening sentences in different ways, and using punctuation to control rhythm and meaning. They learn to fix run-ons and fragments themselves, so every sentence earns its place and communicates one idea precisely.
Paragraph Structure
Students learn to plan before they write — grouping related ideas, opening with a clear topic sentence, developing it with evidence or detail, and linking paragraphs with purposeful transitions. The result is writing that holds together from first line to last, instead of a list of disconnected thoughts.
Vocabulary & Expression
Students build a working bank of precise, ambitious vocabulary and — just as importantly — learn when to use it. We practise replacing tired words, choosing verbs that carry weight, and using figurative language with control, so writing sounds thoughtful and mature rather than padded.
Performance Under Pressure
Students rehearse the exact demand of NAPLAN writing and school assessments: read the prompt, plan in minutes, draft a full response, and check it — all within the clock. With repeated timed practice they stop freezing under pressure and learn to produce their best work when it counts.
Every term layers a new craft on a stronger foundation.
By year's end, students write with range, structure, and assurance.

How a typical term of writing coaching works.
Every session follows the same proven rhythm. Students always know what strong writing looks like before they attempt it — and never write without feedback.
Explicit teaching
Each week opens with one clear skill — a sentence technique, a paragraph move, a feature of persuasive or narrative writing. The teaching is direct and specific, so students understand exactly what they are about to practise and why it matters.
Worked model
Students see the skill demonstrated on a real piece of writing — watching the thinking unfold sentence by sentence. We unpack what makes it work, so good writing stops being a mystery and becomes something students can deliberately reproduce.
The student writes
With the model fresh in mind, students write their own response in a small group of no more than five. Because the group is small, the coach can watch the writing take shape and step in at the moment a student needs it.
Personalised feedback
Every student receives specific, actionable feedback on their own writing — not a generic tick. They learn precisely what worked, what to change, and how to change it, in language they can act on next time.
Revise & re-attempt
Students apply the feedback and rewrite — the step most practice skips. Revising the same piece is where real improvement happens, turning a single correction into a habit that carries into every future task.
Measure the progress
Across an 8-week term, skills layer and consolidate. Parents see how their child's writing has developed — clearer structure, stronger vocabulary, and steadier performance under time pressure — with progress you can point to on the page.
A premium writing program, built around feedback that actually changes the writing.
The Writing Performance Accelerator is weekly, small-group online writing coaching for primary students across Australia — designed and led by a former Head of K–2, trained NAPLAN marker, and contributor to the 2021 NSW English Syllabus.

"Without you, I would never have developed such a passion for poetry — nor realised that rebuttals exist in a persuasive structure. Your teaching proved invaluable."— Andrew, Year 6 · former student
